Sustainability Partners – A network of UVA employees who are interested in sustainability, both at work and home, come together monthly to hear from local speakers, learn about sustainable practices at UVA and share sustainability tips. In Your Workplace
UVA Sustainability would love to participate in an event, meeting, or conversation in your workplace. Consider inviting us to present to your colleagues, facilitate a conversation, do a walkthrough of your space, co-host an event, or bring zero waste event and green purchaser training to you. The Green Workplace Program facilitates sustainable practices in workplaces across UVA by offering a set of recommended green actions, shepherding individuals through implementation of those actions, and incentivizing sustainability progress. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to start a green team or request an informational visit.
Environmental Stewardship Subcommittee – A subcommittee of the University Committee on Sustainability that promotes and enables environmental stewardship via student, staff, and faculty engagement and direct action on Grounds. There are currently 13 working groups and five task forces that focus on environmental topic areas such as energy, materials, water, nitrogen, and more.
Civic Engagement Subcommittee – A subcommittee of the University Committee on Sustainability that works to expand and deepen sustainability into the UVA community, both on and off Grounds. Open to all, this subcommittee hosts annual environmental justice speaker and runs the Equity & Environment Fund amongst other initiatives.
Teaching & Research Subcommittee - A subcommittee of the University Committee on Sustainability, seeks to develop opportunities for interdisciplinary curriculum development and research. The subcommittee supports a University-wide living learning laboratory approach and serves as a resource for faculty engaged in promoting sustainability literacy through teaching and research.
