Things get quiet on Grounds when the University community goes on break for the Fall and Winter holidays -- it's a perfect time to ensure our energy usage takes a break too! Follow this checklist to help protect air and water quality and reduce UVA's carbon footprint.
Be sure to completely shut down:
Lights
Computers and laptops
Monitors and TVs
Copy machines
Other non-essential equipment
Prevent "vampire energy" loss by unplugging:
Power strips
Printers
Coffee pots
Microwaves
Fans and other small appliances.
Turn thermostats down:
As low as 60-degrees if possible during the colder months.
Print out these flyers and post in your work area or dorm.
Thanks, and have a safe and fun holiday!
