Hoos ReUse
UVA's Hoos ReUse program provides students an opportunity to donate gently-used or unwanted items to community organizations in hopes of minimizing the amount of waste sent to the landfill.
Hoos Reuse has expanded this year to include indoor drop-off locations within specific dorms on Grounds. See the full list below to find a drop-off location near you. All items donated on-Grounds will be redistributed through Goodwill Industries of the Valleys.

Hoos ReUse Off Grounds
Living off Grounds and looking to donate items during the move-out process? Consider taking your gently used items to a local organization to be redistributed to the community including:
Refurnished Cville -- a local nonprofit started by a group of Hoos -- is a great option when transportation is a barrier to donating. To donate items, submit info to their website a couple of weeks in advance. See their accepted items list for most commonly accepted items including furniture, mattresses/box springs, mirrors, artwork, and large appliances. If you are interested in volunteering or helping provide transportation, sign up here.
Goodwill is currently taking clothing, shoes, books, linens, dishware, furniture, small appliances, and electronics. You can donate items Monday through Saturday from 9-7 pm and Sunday 12-6 pm at either of the Goodwill Donation Centers in Charlottesville (29 North or Mill Creek). Goodwill cannot take mattresses, box springs, television sets, or major appliances.
Habitat for Humanity is currently accepting donations Tuesday- Saturday, appointment recommended. Accept items include appliances, furniture items, lamps, and home decor. Call 434-293-6331 to make an appointment. Items should be dropped off at the Habitat Store (1221 Harris Street). You can also schedule a furniture pick-up by calling 434-293-6331 or scheduling on their website (note: appointments fill up quickly, so call as soon as possible). Habitat cannot take mattresses or box springs, clothes, books, or coffee makers.
