The Faces of Sustainability: Meet Shelly, Steven, and Isabella
Shelly is the Senior Academic Administration and Policy Officer for the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost and co-chairs the University’s Committee on Sustainability. Steven is a Professor of Commerce in Information Technology & Innovation and one of the first recipients of an eBike rebate in the UVA Wahoo Commute program. Isabella is a Sustainability Pathway Student Advisory Council member, Public Service Pathways.

The Faces of Sustainability: Meet Lois
Lois serves as the university’s Senior Vice President for Operations, reporting to the EVP and Chief Operating Officer. Her portfolio includes all areas related to buildings and grounds – Facilities Maintenance, Office of the University Architect, and Office of the University Building Official – and business services – housing and residential life, UVA Dine, transportation, parking, the bookstore, Cavalier Computers, mail, and UVA Print.

Anika is a third-year undergraduate majoring in Systems Engineering and Economics and a Sustainability Student Employee on the Waste Minimization team. Anthony is a lab specialist in Biomedical Engineering, and he manages the laboratory of Dr. Shayn Peirce-Cottler. Kara is the director of preservation for the UVA Library.

Sarita is an Assistant Director of Project Management overseeing the Historic Preservation team in Capital Construction & Renovations. Josh is an RN in surgery at UVA Sugical Care Riverside. Kristy is the Senior/Supervising Industrial Hygienist at the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Noah is a graduate research assistant and PhD candidate with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, helping to create a sustainability plan for the department. Song works in UVA Finance and formed the Sustainable Procurement Working Group to drive the purchase of sustainable goods for UVA. Professor Lean Sweeney is advancing grounds-engaged learning with her popular "Talking Trash" class.

The Faces of Sustainability: Meet Sathish, Tabatha, Alicia, and Jordan
Sathish is in charge of solar installations, lighting, and ensuring adequate power. Tabatha and Alicia, two UVA nurses with a combined 26 years of service, were inspired to reduce single-use plastic from patients in pre-operations here at the UVA. Jordan is an undergraduate engineering student that makes time for litter clean ups or trash sorting!
