Lela Garner

Lela (she/her) leads student engagement efforts on Grounds by supporting the Sustainability Student Employee Program, organizing events, and collaborating with student-facing departments and offices across UVA. She joined the Office for Sustainability in September 2017 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Sociology from Bowdoin College, as well as a Master of Education from the University of Virginia. Before coming to UVA, Lela worked on the youth engagement project at the Environmental Defense Fund, reflecting her deep commitment to advancing sustainability in higher education.
